Overview of the tour: The visit was to introduce the students to the functioning of the Primary Health Centre, the staffing pattern and the role and responsibilities of the health workers at PHC.

92 students (2 batches) visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Peddashapur on 30^th and 31^st January 2025 at 10.30 am.

Firstly the students were introduced to the Medical officer and other health workers at PHC. The Medical officer gave a brief functioning of the centre and explained the staffing pattern to the students. The ASHA workers highlighted their role and responsibilities towards promotion of health, prevention of diseases & participation in awareness programmes. The Medical superintendent explained about DOTS regimen, ANC care and vaccination. Then the students were taken around to see the PHC.

On 4th February 2025, JIMS Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital had the honor of hosting a one-day seminar led by the renowned homeopathic physician, Dr. Jawahar Shah, on the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Homeopathy.”

The session was attended by PG Scholars, Interns, and Faculty Members, who gained invaluable insights into how AI can revolutionize the practice of homeopathy. The discussion was engaging, informative, and thought-provoking, emphasizing the integration of advanced technology with traditional healing practices.

Cadaver Oath Ceremony for I BHMS 2024-25 Batch

On January 28, 2025, the Cadaver Oath Ceremony was conducted for the I BHMS 2024-25 batch students at JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Department of Human Anatomy. This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the journey of every medical student, instilling respect and ethics for the human body during their academic pursuit.

The event began with the oath administered by Prof Dr. Sarosh Engineer, followed by an address by Principal Dr. N.C. Dhole, who emphasized the importance of compassion and responsibility in medical practice. Prof Dr. J. Santosh, Vice Principal, highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standards of respect and ethics while handling human cadavers.

Prof Dr. Vishal Deshpande, PG Coordinator, encouraged the students to uphold these principles throughout their studies. Prof Dr. G. UmaRani spoke on the history and significance of body donation, reinforcing the importance of dignity in handling human cadavers.

The ceremony was expertly coordinated by Dr. Raghuramaiah, HOD, Department of Anatomy, who concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks.

This ceremony marks the beginning of a journey filled with learning, respect, and responsibility towards human life and the invaluable lessons it imparts.

Mental Health Awareness Programme: Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs

On 27th January 2025, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital proudly conducted a Mental Health Awareness Programme at Zilla Parishad High School, Kishan Nagar, as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

This informative session was led by Dr. Surekha and Dr. Divya from the Department of Community Medicine, where they educated students about the short-term and long-term health effects of substance abuse.

The event also featured a thought-provoking skit by Final Year BHMS students that highlighted the risk factors and consequences of substance abuse, driving home the importance of making informed, healthy choices.

The interactive session received positive feedback, and the enthusiastic participation from the 110 students and teachers showed a clear commitment to promoting mental wellness and a drug-free lifestyle.

Thank you to Mr. Srinivasulu, Vice Principal, and all attendees for their support. Teachers also expressed gratitude for the valuable resources provided, and we’re looking forward to future collaborations. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and drug-free community!

In continuation with 100 Days TB Elimination Campaign, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Department of Community Medicine and NSS unit, had conducted an awareness programme at MPUP School, Sriram Nagar Village on 20th January 2025 and ZPHS, Kongarakalan village on 22nd January 2025.

PG scholars explained the mode of transmission, symptoms and investigations of Tuberculosis. The programme emphasized on adopting healthy habits, such as proper hand hygiene and cough etiquette to prevent respiratory infections.

Dr. Hanamanth and Dr. Jhansi, Assistant Professors from Department of Medicine volunteered in the awareness campaign along with the PG scholars.

In MPUP school, Sriramnagar, 42 students along with the teachers and Head master Mr. Jangaiah participated in the programme.
In ZPHS, Kongarkalan, the event was attended by 97 students along with the teachers, Head master Mr. Rajeswar Reddy and Corporator Mr. Mahender.

The programme encouraged students to become ambassadors for TB prevention and control in their communities.
