In occasion of World Breast feeding week 2024 (01.08.2024 to 07-08-2024), Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital have organised an Awareness Programme titled “BREAST FEEDING – AN ULTIMATE ACT OF LOVE AND NOURISHMENT” on 06.08.2024 in between 11:30 am – 12:15 pm at Mandal Parishad Anganwadi, Hayathabad Village.

The Programme was organised and presented by Dr.Susira Suresh, Assistant Professor and Part I PG students Dr.Hanisha  and Dr.Sai Prasana.

The programme extensively enlightens the Anganwadi workers and localite women on  crucial topics such as –  Importance and advantages of Breast Feeding, techniques of breast feeding and dietary  Requirements. The session also comprises of a video demonstration session on “How to breast feed in a proper way”. The session end up by doubt clearing session of village women  by Dr.Susira Suresh. This programme offered a noteworthy insight in the beneficiaries on breast feeding and its importance.

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, NSS Unit, Department of Paediatrics and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology collaboratively organized a successful event to observe World Breastfeeding Week-2024 at Chegoor village, Nandigama mandal, one of our adopted villages.

The primary objective was to create awareness about optimal breastfeeding practices, the significance of breast milk, and proper feeding postures among pregnant women, lactating mothers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers of Kothur and Nandigama mandal.

Event Highlights:
Interactive and informative sessions conducted by our students, focusing on the theme of World Breastfeeding Week-2024.

The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries Sri Veerlapally Shankar MLA Shadnagar, Smt Priyanka Shankar Ex MPP Shadnagar, Smt Sunitha MPDO Shadnagar, Sri Rajesh MRO Nandigama Mandal, Medical Officer PHC Nandigama, Sri Vittal Ex Gram Sarpanch, Anganwadi Supervisors of Kothur & Nandigama mandal, Smt Lakshmi bai and Smt Revathi.

MLA Sri Veerlapally Shankar and other dignitaries shared their insights on the importance of healthy feeding practices and commended the JIMS team for their efforts in spreading awareness.

The event successfully educated the participants about the benefits of breastfeeding and proper feeding techniques, empowering them to make informed decisions about infant nutrition. The collaborative effort between JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital and local leaders demonstrated a collective commitment to promoting healthy practices in the community.

The World Breastfeeding Week-2024 observance at Chegoor village was a resounding success, thanks to the collective efforts of the NSS Unit, Department of Paediatrics, Department of OBGY, and local dignitaries and village residents.

On the occasion of the World BreastFeeding Week (Aug 1st-7th) 2024, 0n 5th day (05th Aug 2024), in the morning Session under the guidance of Dept. of Paediatrics and Dept. of OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY. Patient Orientation Programme was conducted  in JIMS Hospital for Pregnant, Lactating Women and their Attenders at 2nd Floor in which Paediatric PG students –  Dr. Dharani, Dr.Suchi, Dr. Lahari, Dr. Rukhiya gave orientation regarding Benefits of BreastFeeding to Mother & Infants, Different Positions for Feeding, Myths & facts, Common problems encountered by Mothers & their attendees.

Dr. Mohammed Irfan, Dr M.Ramya Krishna addressed the gathering regarding common problems encountered and observed in the ward and the benefits of overcoming such problems prior with the orientation Programme. Dr. Shivani wadhwa, Dr. Bhavya Shikha asked for the further doubts and thanked for their patient Listening.

Simultaneously, An Awareness Programme -titled CONNECTING THE GAP – was organised in Pedda Golkonda village in Peripheral OPD by Dr Manasa, Department of OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY about 25 villages including localities, Anganwadi teachers and Ayyas were benifited.

In the Afternoon Session, Under the Supervision of Dept. of OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY, organised an awareness Programme-titled STAND UP FOR BREAST FEEDING Educate and Support  for 3rd yr UG students in JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College by DR Shivani wadhwa, DR Susira suresh in which advantages of Breast feeding, techniques and contradictions were explained.

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital as part of World Breastfeeding Week organized a awareness programme under the supervision of Department of OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY on August 5th, 2024 titled “STAND UP FOR BREAST FEEDING – Educate and Support”.

The program covered a range of topics including:
* Advantages of Breast Feeding to Nursing Mothers and Challenges faced during lactation.

* Connecting the Gap, mechanism of lactation, advantages of breast feeding in babies, Composition of Breast milk, Breast feeding techniques and Contraindication.

The session aimed to enhance understanding among 3rd BHMS students regarding the multifaceted benefits of breastfeeding and address both the practical and theoretical aspects involved in supporting new mothers and their infants.
