St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet successfully hosted an international conference titled
“Novel Therapeutics to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance: Advancing Collaboration, Innovation and Sustainability.”

The summit was inaugurated by Dr. Joana Joseph, Principal, who emphasized the importance of international collaboration and research-driven strategies to address global health threats.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Navin Pawaskar, Director, JIMS Hyderabad, who shared valuable insights on recent breakthroughs in antimicrobial research.

The academic programme was spearheaded by the Department of Microbiology and coordinated by Dr. P. Roselin, Head of the Department of Microbiology, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, USA.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Joveeta Joseph, Head of Microbiology Services, LVPEI Network, highlighted the significance of the One Health approach in combating antimicrobial resistance.

The conference featured technical sessions and paper presentations, concluding with a valedictory ceremony and distribution of certificates to participants.

Congratulations to all the organizers, speakers, and participants for the successful conduct of this landmark global academic event.

As part of Course Outcome 03 of the I BHMS CBDC Programme, the Cadaveric Oath Ceremony was solemnly conducted for the I BHMS 2025–2026 batch on 06.01.2026 at the Dissection Hall, Department of Anatomy.

The oath was administered by Prof. Dr. G. Uma Rani, emphasizing the sanctity of the human body and the ethical responsibilities of medical students. The ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of QCI Inspectors, adding significance to the occasion.

Following the oath, Principal Dr. N. C. Dhole addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of discipline, dedication, and ethical values in medical education. Prof. Dr. J. Santosh, Vice Principal, and Prof. Dr. Vishal Deshpande, PG Coordinator, stressed the need to uphold the highest standards of respect, professionalism, and work ethics while handling human cadavers.

Prof. Dr. Gautham Ash delivered an insightful address on the ethical responsibilities associated with learning Anatomy, underlining the values of professionalism, compassion, and empathy towards human donors.

The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence, paying heartfelt tribute to the noble donors whose selfless contribution forms the foundation of medical education.

The event was successfully coordinated by the Department of Anatomy faculty members — Dr. G. Uma Rani, Dr. R. Ushabhargavi, Dr. A. Mounika, and Dr. M. Shivaraj. Dr. G. Uma Rani proposed the vote of thanks, marking the graceful conclusion of the ceremony.

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital organized a seminar on 11 December 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, focusing on the Homeopathic Approach in Cardiology. The session was delivered by Dr. Aadil Chimthanawala, MBBS, MD (Medicine), BHMS, MD (Hom), PhD (Hom), a distinguished clinician and academician with expertise in both modern medicine and homeopathy. The seminar aimed to orient interns and postgraduate students about the scope and applicability of homeopathy in cardiac cases, especially its role as an adjunct therapy alongside conventional allopathic management.

Dr. Chimthanawala opened the session by explaining the wide scope of homeopathy in managing acute and chronic cardiac conditions. He shared examples ranging from simple chest pain to complex cardiac pathologies, demonstrating how homeopathic intervention can be effectively integrated into patient care. Emphasizing accurate case-taking, he highlighted the importance of building strong rapport with patients and understanding individual symptoms, particularly in emergency situations.

He elaborated on different approaches to case totality, including single complete symptom prescribing, constitutional evaluation, organ-specific remedies, and prescriptions based solely on past or family history. A key takeaway was the ESRA protocol (Exciting factor, Site, Radiation, Associated symptoms), a structured tool for understanding cases with minimal symptomatology. The session also included differential materia medica comparisons and case videos with patient testimonials, enhancing practical understanding.

The seminar was well received by interns and postgraduate students, boosting their confidence and motivating them to approach challenging cardiac cases with greater clarity and preparedness.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Training Workshop at JIMS

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital (JIMS HMC) organized a Workshop on the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) on 04 December 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The workshop was conducted by the Department of Paediatrics with the objective of strengthening interns’ understanding and skills in evidence-based neonatal resuscitation.

The session featured expert resource persons, Dr. Manisha Thakur and Dr. V. Siddhartha, Paediatricians, and saw active participation from interns, postgraduate scholars, the Medical Officer of the Paediatrics Department, and faculty members from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The workshop was moderated by Dr. Mohammed Irfan, Dr. Tamil Selvan, and Dr. Bhavya Shikha.

The program commenced with an introductory briefing by PGs Dr. Aparna and Dr. Dharani, who outlined the objectives of NRP and emphasized its vital role in reducing neonatal morbidity through prompt and appropriate interventions in the delivery room.

This was followed by an informative didactic session by Dr. Manisha Thakur, who highlighted the significance of the “Golden Minute,” explained the essential steps of neonatal resuscitation, and presented the latest updates from the NRP 2025 guidelines.

The workshop’s key highlight was the hands-on skill training conducted at various stations arranged by the PGs. These included Positive Pressure Ventilation, endotracheal intubation, umbilical vein cannulation, and neonatal CPR, all supervised by Dr. V. Siddhartha, who offered practical demonstrations and clarified procedural techniques for the interns.

To assess knowledge enhancement, pre-test and post-test evaluations were conducted for both interns and PGs, reinforcing key concepts related to neonatal resuscitation.

The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Mohammed Irfan, who underscored the importance of continuous NRP training and encouraged interns to apply the skills acquired during real-life clinical scenarios to ensure optimal outcomes for newborns.

The Department of Psychiatry, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, successfully conducted MANODARPAN 2025 on 28th November 2025. The programme began with a warm welcome, poster displays, winning presentations, reels, and a prayer by UG students. The formal inauguration included the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and garlanding of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann and Sri Ramanujacharya, honouring their contributions to holistic healing and human values.

Principal Prof. Dr. N. C. Dhole addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of integrative psychiatric care, strong social support, and continued collaboration between AJRC and JIMSHMCH. Chief Guest Dr. C. Jagannath delivered an insightful address on mental illness and encouraged students to observe clinical procedures at AJRC. Dr. N. Linga Raju, Principal of JSPS Government Homoeopathic Medical College (JSPSGHMC), Ramanthapur, Hyderabad, emphasized the urgent need for a dedicated psychiatric hospital in the region and assured his support towards its establishment.

Senior dignitaries, including Dr. Navin Pawaskar,Director,JIMS Healthcare further enriched the programme through discussions on community psychiatry, family quality of life, and accessible mental health services. Academic sessions featured experts from AJRC and JIMSHMCH, covering vital topics such as mental ailments, suicide prevention, substance use, schizophrenia, and homoeopathic clinical case discussions. Post-lunch sessions included talks on Mental Illness, IDD, Autism, rare schizophrenia cases, and an engaging session on Art Therapy.

The event concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony for all MANODARPAN competitions and a special felicitation of Yoga & Naturopathy experts Dr. Hepsiba and Dr. Gayathri. The programme formally ended with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sudipti Singh, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty, students, and the organizing committee for making MANODARPAN 2025 a grand success.

Day 4 of MANODARPAN 2025 was organized by the Department of Psychiatry, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Muchintal, highlighting the integrative approach of Yoga, Homoeopathy, and Psychology in promoting holistic mental health. The programme commenced at 9:15 AM with a soulful prayer by Miss P. Sahasra (2nd year UG) and Miss Vinya (4th year UG).

A refreshing Yoga Session was conducted from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM by Dr. G. Hepsiba and Dr. B. Mehta Gayatri. Dr. Hepsiba emphasized the importance of mental health, the role of yoga, and how thoughts influence mental well-being, demonstrating practices such as centering, abdominal breathing, breath retention (kumbhaka), Om chanting, Ma-kara chanting, and positive affirmations. Dr. Gayatri followed with classical yoga practices for mental health, guiding participants through Surya Anuloma Viloma, Bhramari pranayama, Nadi Shodhana, and Tibetan bowl meditation.

After a short tea break, postgraduate students—Dr. Ajeya, Dr. Roshini, Dr. Yamuna, Dr. Noah, and Dr. Haseena—presented insightful snap reviews of their dissertation work from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by another brief break.

From 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM, Dr. Shreenath Rao delivered an enriching session on the Importance of Therapeutic Problem Definition and Therapeutic Problem Resolution in Homoeopathy. A lunch break was observed from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM.

Post-lunch activities included the screening of student-made reels on mental health awareness (1:45–2:00 PM), followed by a thought-provoking role play on substance abuse by 1st-year BHMS students (2:00–2:30 PM). From 2:30 PM to 2:45 PM, Dr. V. Sravani presented a clinical case of schizophrenia with erythema multiforme, and from 2:45 PM to 3:15 PM, Dr. Sudipti Singh discussed a case of OCD, focusing on Homoeopathic intervention and management challenges.

An engaging interactive session was held from 3:15 PM to 3:30 PM, conducted by Dr. Yamuna and Dr. Shaheeda, featuring a rapid-fire “Guess the Remedy” activity and a personality-based flip game. Faculty members Dr. Subramanyam (HMM) and Dr. Kavya (PG, Organon 2024–2025) actively participated.

From 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM, Dr. Venkata Subbaiah delivered an insightful session on The Role of the Clinical Psychologist in Homoeopathy, and was felicitated by Dr. Shreenath Rao, Dr. Samar Chatterjee, and Dr. Subramaniyam.

Judgment for the reels competition was done by Dr. Manaswi, Dr. Sahaja Priya, and Dr. Poojitha from the Department of Psychiatry, supported by postgraduates Dr. Greeshma and Dr. B. Roshini. A posture competition was also conducted at 2:30 PM, judged by Dr. Samar Chatterjee, Dr. Chandraja C. V, and Dr. Kalyani, with event coordination by Dr. Ravali and Dr. Chandana (PGs in Psychiatry).

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jyothi and Dr. Vishnu Bhandavi, marking the end of yet another impactful day of MANODARPAN 2025.

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital successfully conducted a Book Fair for all students of the institution from 28th November to 1st December.

The primary aim of this initiative was to encourage students to procure the essential textbooks required for their academic study and to promote the use of standard printed books instead of relying on soft copies or PDFs. The event received an enthusiastic response, with students actively participating and purchasing the recommended academic and reference books.

The college appreciates the cooperation of students and vendors who contributed to making this fair a productive and meaningful academic experience. Such initiatives reaffirm our commitment to strengthening academic standards and fostering effective study practices.

Day 3 of MANODARPAN 2025 witnessed two impactful events dedicated to community outreach and student engagement in mental health awareness. The day began with a Community Mental Health Awareness Programme held from 10 AM to 1 PM at Kakatiya Old Age Home, Chinna Golkonda, organized by the Department of Psychiatry in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine.

The programme was graced by Dr. Shreenath Rao (HOD, Psychiatry), Mr. Kishore (In-charge, Kakatiya Old Age Home), and Dr. Divya (Assistant Professor, Community Medicine), along with PG scholars Dr. Shaik Abdul Haseena and Dr. Ajeya, supported by PGs Dr. Noah and Dr. Jyoti. The session commenced with an insightful introductory talk by Dr. Shaik Abdul Haseena, who sensitized the elderly residents about common mental health concerns such as depression, loneliness, anxiety, sleep disturbances, memory issues, and psychosomatic symptoms, while offering practical and simple coping strategies. This was followed by a heart-touching role play performed by interns and 3rd BHMS students, portraying the emotional and psychological struggles faced by the elderly, which fostered empathy and deeper connection among the participants.

A relaxation and meditation session led by Dr. Ajeya taught the residents easy techniques to enhance calmness, reduce stress, and improve sleep. Expert addresses by Dr. Divya and Dr. Shreenath Rao emphasized early identification of geriatric mental health issues, the importance of emotional support, and the need for compassionate, continuous care. The programme concluded successfully, creating awareness through interaction, emotional engagement, and practical demonstrations, thereby reinforcing the importance of sustained community involvement in promoting elderly mental well-being.

In the afternoon, from 2 PM to 5 PM, the Department of Psychiatry organized a vibrant Role Play Competition at JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College as part of the MANODARPAN 2025 activities. The event was judged by Dr. K. Kalpavalli, Dr. K. Raghuram Chandra Ramarao, Dr. Y.V.S. Annapurna, and Dr. Allu Vishnu Sai Vardhan. Students from various academic levels presented powerful performances on themes related to mental health. The 3rd and 2nd BHMS students performed thought-provoking role plays on the theme “Breaking the Stigma,” portraying diverse real-life situations reflecting societal stigma surrounding mental health.

The 1st BHMS students presented a role play on substance use, highlighting risks, emotional impact, and early signs of substance involvement. Interns and 3rd-year students enacted scenes focusing on general mental health awareness, while postgraduate students from Homoeopathic Materia Medica performed a unique role play on substance use, integrating relevant Materia Medica remedies into their presentation. The judges appreciated the creativity, clarity, and commitment displayed by the students, commending each batch for their active participation and thoughtful portrayal of mental health concerns. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the judges, faculty, students, interns, and PGs for their cooperation and enthusiastic involvement.

Overall, Day 3 of MANODARPAN 2025 stood out as a meaningful blend of community service and student participation, highlighting compassion, awareness, and collective responsibility in promoting mental well-being across all age groups.

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital observed Day 2 of MANODARPAN – Mental Health Awareness Week with a Community Awareness Programme at Chegoor Village, conducted by the Departments of Psychiatry and Community Medicine.

The programme created awareness among villagers and students of Zilla Parishad High School (6th–10th) on stress management, emotional wellbeing, exam pressure, screen addiction, and the importance of seeking timely help, led by PG scholars Dr. Jyoti Naik and Dr. Haseena. Principal Mr. Raja Reddy motivated the students with encouraging words, while Dr. Shreenath Rao emphasized the objectives and significance of mental health awareness. Community leaders including MPP Shiva Shankar Goud, Mrs. Veena (Village Secretary), Mr. Virender (Ex-Sarpanch), the Headmaster and faculty extended their support. A role play by UG students added impactful learning and motivation.

In the afternoon, the Department of Psychiatry organized an enriching Art Therapy Workshop titled “Healing through Art: Exploring Emotions with Creativity”, facilitated by experienced art therapists Mrs. Sudha Ramani and Mrs. Shilpa Shukla for 50 postgraduate students.

Activities such as crayon drawing, personality sketching, wet painting, Past-Present-Future reflective circles, Self-Certificate of Appreciation, and Gratitude Mandala Art helped participants explore emotions, self-awareness, and creativity. The workshop was highly appreciated for its experiential depth and highlighted the therapeutic role of art in holistic mental wellbeing.

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital successfully commenced the MANODARPAN Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 on 24th November 2025 with a series of events aimed at promoting emotional well-being, resilience, and mental health literacy among students, patients, and the community. The day began with the inauguration ceremony at 9:00 AM, led by Principal Dr. N. C. Dhole and Medical Superintendent Dr. Pravas Pal, whose inspiring addresses highlighted the significance of early mental health education and supportive learning environments.

As part of the day’s activities, a Drawing Competition was organized by the Department of Psychiatry at 2:00 PM. Students enthusiastically participated by creating artworks at home based on the themes “Resilience in Times of Crisis,” “Colors of Positivity and Inner Strength,” and “Stronger Together: Community and Mental Well-being.” The entries were judged by Dr. Anjali Babar and Dr. G. Uma Rani, who appreciated the creativity and thoughtful expression showcased by the participants.

A Mental Health Quiz Competition was also conducted, featuring five teams comprising both undergraduate and postgraduate students. PG scholars Dr. Noah and Dr. Sushrutha conducted four engaging rounds covering mental health and homoeopathy. Faculty members from various departments and 4th-year UG students attended the event, making it an interactive learning experience that encouraged teamwork and healthy academic competition.

To extend mental health awareness to the community, the Departments of Psychiatry and Community Medicine conducted a program at Telangana Model School, Palamakula. PG speakers Dr. Jyoti Naik and Dr. Haseena addressed students of 10th, Intermediate 1st and 2nd year on common stressors, coping strategies, and study techniques. Principal Smt. Rajini, Dr. Shreenath Rao, Dr. Phaneesh, and Dr. Sravani also guided students on emotional resilience and academic success. UG students of JIMS performed a role play, enriching the session with practical learning.

At the JIMS Hospital OPD reception, the MANODARPAN 2K25 Mental Health Awareness program was inaugurated at 10:30 AM, followed by sessions until 1:30 PM. Dignitaries including Dr. Mohammad Irfan, Dr. Srikanth, Dr. Pravas Paul, Dr. Shreenath Rao, and others participated in the event. Activities such as match games, word puzzles, mandala art, and simple self-evaluation mental health scales (PSS, GAD-7, Social Anxiety Scale) were made available for patients, attendees, students, interns, and physicians, creating an engaging and supportive environment.

Overall, the first day of MANODARPAN Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 was conducted smoothly across all venues, successfully promoting emotional wellness and fostering a positive dialogue around mental health. The coordinated efforts of all departments ensured meaningful participation and impactful community outreach.
