Event 5: Hayathabad village

Participants: 15 NSS Volunteers and 2 teachers

Females were educated about 1000 days care, complementary feeding, dietary charts with special emphasis on the benefits of breast feeding for the child as well as for the mother.

Pregnant women, lactating mothers and children under 5 yrs and from 6-10 yrs were screened for anthropometry measures to assess their nutritional status. Women were also screened for anaemia. Hb estimation was done for 19 women who presented with pallor and weakness on physical examination.

Total number of beneficiaries – 43

Event 4: Kishan nagar village

Participants: 10 NSS Volunteers and 2 teachers

Interactive session with pregnant females, lactating mothers and school children regarding 1000 days care, importance of hygiene and balanced diet for general well being. Pregnant females, lactating mothers and children were screened for anthropometry measures to assess their nutritional status.

Women were also screened for anaemia. Haemoglobin estimation was done for 26 women who presented with pallor and weakness on physical examination.

Total number of beneficiaries – 100

Participants: 28 NSS Volunteers and 2 teachers

Interactive session with pregnant females and lactating mothers regarding 1000 days care, complementary feeding, dietary charts, immunization and poshan tracker app.

Pregnant women, lactating mothers and children under 5 yrs were screened for anthropometry measures to assess their nutritional status.

Event 2: Keshampet village

Participants: 32 NSS Volunteers and 2 teachers.

Interactive to educate the pregnant females, lactating mothers and adolescent girls regarding 1000 days care, role of vitamins and minerals in prevention of diseases, breast feeding and poshan tracking app.

Pregnant women, lactating mothers and children under 5 yrs were screened for anthropometry measures to assess their nutritional status. Total number of beneficiaries – 62

In support of the flagship programme – Poshan Abhiyaan that aims to improve the nutritional outcomes for women and children through a holistic approach, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, NSS Unit in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine initiated an awareness campaign in adopted villages to observe Poshan Pakhwada.

The event conducted at Chegoor village on 15.04.2025, highlighted an interactive session with Pregnant females, lactating mothers and anganwadi workers, educating them about 1000 days care – period spanning from conception through pregnancy to a child’s second birth day, awareness about healthy eating habits, complementary feeding, dietary charts, personal hygiene, prevention and management of Diarrheal diseases.

Pregnant women, lactating mothers, children under 5 yrs and between 6-10 yrs were screened for anthropometry measures to assess their nutritional status. They were also educated about the Poshan Tracker app and it’s utility.

Dr T.Surekha and Dr.M. Phanesh – faculty from the Department of Community Medicine along with NSS volunteers participated in the event.

The event was attended by Mrs.Veena, Village Secretary and anganwadi workers.

Total number of beneficiaries – 51

The initiative successfully promoted nutrition awareness and motivated the mother towards monitoring the child’s health along with prioritising self care.

On 10th April 2025, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital proudly celebrated World Homoeopathy Day, commemorating the 270th birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the revered founder of Homoeopathy.

The celebration aimed to enlighten students on the principles and practices of Homoeopathy and its relevance in today’s healthcare landscape.

Ms. Humera Naaz (IV BHMS) opened the event with an insightful introduction, highlighting this year’s theme — ‘Adhyayan, Adhyaapan, Anusandhaan’ (Education, Practice, and Research).

Ms. Sumaiah & Ms. Nikitha (II BHMS) presented an engaging and informative account of Dr. Hahnemann’s life, showcasing his groundbreaking contributions to Homoeopathy.

The event was graced by our esteemed Principal Dr. N. C. Dhole and Medical Superintendent Dr. Pravas Kumar Pal, who shared their wisdom on Dr. Hahnemann’s teachings, values, and the evolving role of Homoeopathy in modern medicine.

The celebration was a beautiful blend of learning and inspiration, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of purpose and deeper appreciation for the art and science of Homoeopathy.

Department of Community Medicine conducted a Women’s Health Screening Programme at Kishan Nagar village to support the theme ‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures’. The Programme aimed to increase awareness and motivation among women to prioritise their physical and mental health. Females in the village were addressed by the IV yr students regarding the common health issues and their preventive aspect through door to door campaign.

On 22nd March 2025, the PG Scholars of the Psychiatry Department, JIMS Homeopathic Medical College & Hospital, observed World Sleep Awareness Week at Kakatiya Old Age Home, Chinnagolkonda. Under the expert guidance of our esteemed faculty members: Dr. Shreenath Rao – Professor & HOD, Dr. Sravani – Assistant Professor, Dr. Sudipti Singh – Assistant Professor, Dr. Divya K – Assistant Professor

The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of healthy sleep patterns, the impact of insufficient sleep, and its connection with mental health in the geriatric population.

The program began with an Introduction to Homoeopathy by Dr. Sravani, who shared general awareness about Homeopathy and its role in treating various conditions.

This was followed by a detailed session on Sleep Health by PG Scholar Dr. Shaik Abdul Haseena, focusing on the significance of sleep, common sleep issues, and their effects on both mental and physical health.

The program also included a relaxation and interactive session for the residents, coordinated by Dr. Sudipti Singh, along with PG Scholars Dr. Noah, Dr. Ajeya, and Dr. Jyoti. This session provided valuable insights into relaxation techniques to improve sleep quality.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Shreenath Rao, appreciating everyone’s participation in making the program a success.
