MANODARPAN 2025 – Day 3 Highlights | 26 November 2025

Day 3 of MANODARPAN 2025 witnessed two impactful events dedicated to community outreach and student engagement in mental health awareness. The day began with a Community Mental Health Awareness Programme held from 10 AM to 1 PM at Kakatiya Old Age Home, Chinna Golkonda, organized by the Department of Psychiatry in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine.

The programme was graced by Dr. Shreenath Rao (HOD, Psychiatry), Mr. Kishore (In-charge, Kakatiya Old Age Home), and Dr. Divya (Assistant Professor, Community Medicine), along with PG scholars Dr. Shaik Abdul Haseena and Dr. Ajeya, supported by PGs Dr. Noah and Dr. Jyoti. The session commenced with an insightful introductory talk by Dr. Shaik Abdul Haseena, who sensitized the elderly residents about common mental health concerns such as depression, loneliness, anxiety, sleep disturbances, memory issues, and psychosomatic symptoms, while offering practical and simple coping strategies. This was followed by a heart-touching role play performed by interns and 3rd BHMS students, portraying the emotional and psychological struggles faced by the elderly, which fostered empathy and deeper connection among the participants.

A relaxation and meditation session led by Dr. Ajeya taught the residents easy techniques to enhance calmness, reduce stress, and improve sleep. Expert addresses by Dr. Divya and Dr. Shreenath Rao emphasized early identification of geriatric mental health issues, the importance of emotional support, and the need for compassionate, continuous care. The programme concluded successfully, creating awareness through interaction, emotional engagement, and practical demonstrations, thereby reinforcing the importance of sustained community involvement in promoting elderly mental well-being.

In the afternoon, from 2 PM to 5 PM, the Department of Psychiatry organized a vibrant Role Play Competition at JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College as part of the MANODARPAN 2025 activities. The event was judged by Dr. K. Kalpavalli, Dr. K. Raghuram Chandra Ramarao, Dr. Y.V.S. Annapurna, and Dr. Allu Vishnu Sai Vardhan. Students from various academic levels presented powerful performances on themes related to mental health. The 3rd and 2nd BHMS students performed thought-provoking role plays on the theme “Breaking the Stigma,” portraying diverse real-life situations reflecting societal stigma surrounding mental health.

The 1st BHMS students presented a role play on substance use, highlighting risks, emotional impact, and early signs of substance involvement. Interns and 3rd-year students enacted scenes focusing on general mental health awareness, while postgraduate students from Homoeopathic Materia Medica performed a unique role play on substance use, integrating relevant Materia Medica remedies into their presentation. The judges appreciated the creativity, clarity, and commitment displayed by the students, commending each batch for their active participation and thoughtful portrayal of mental health concerns. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the judges, faculty, students, interns, and PGs for their cooperation and enthusiastic involvement.

Overall, Day 3 of MANODARPAN 2025 stood out as a meaningful blend of community service and student participation, highlighting compassion, awareness, and collective responsibility in promoting mental well-being across all age groups.
