As a part of their academic curriculum, the students of IV BHMS (Senior Batch) from JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, accompanied by the faculty of the Department of Community Medicine, visited the Government General TB & Chest Hospital, Erragadda on 26th and 27th June 2025.
The objective of the visit was to provide students with exposure to the functioning of a specialized infectious disease hospital and to educate them on the prevention, management, and control of communicable diseases, with a special focus on Tuberculosis (TB).
During the visit, students gained comprehensive insights into:
🔹 Clinical symptomatology of TB
🔹 Diagnostic procedures and investigations
🔹 Treatment protocols including DOTS and multi-drug regimens
🔹 Implementation and field-level functioning of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP)
This enriching experience significantly enhanced the students’ understanding of public health systems, infectious disease control, and national health programs—bridging academic learning with real-world clinical practices.
