As part of their academic curriculum, the senior batch students of IV BHMS from JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, accompanied by faculty members of the Department of Community Medicine, undertook an educational visit to the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Amberpet on 26th and 27th June 2025.
This field visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to modern sewage treatment processes and the operational infrastructure involved in environmental sanitation. It served as an essential part of their learning about public health practices, waste management, and the vital role of sewage treatment in disease prevention and environmental protection.
Through guided tours and on-site explanations by experts, students observed how wastewater is scientifically processed, treated, and safely released—highlighting the link between sanitation infrastructure and community health.
The visit not only reinforced theoretical knowledge but also offered practical insights, enhancing student comprehension of environmental health, pollution control, and sustainable practices. Such integrated learning approaches bridge classroom teaching with real-world applications, equipping future healthcare professionals with the awareness and responsibility needed for holistic community health care.
