The Department of Homoeopathic Pharmacy, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, organised a 10-day hands-on practical training programme for postgraduate scholars at Moonray Pharmaceutical Sciences, Raikal, Telangana, as part of its academic and practical exposure initiative.
A total of seven postgraduate scholars from the MD (Homoeopathy) Part II batches 2023–24 and 2024–25 participated in the training programme. The initiative was designed to strengthen their practical competencies and provide valuable exposure to pharmaceutical, pharmacognostic, phytochemical, analytical, and quality-control techniques relevant to Homoeopathic Pharmacy.
During the training, the scholars received hands-on experience in a range of laboratory procedures, including determination of moisture content, Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) and co-TLC, techniques of cutting, staining and mounting, microscopic evaluation of drugs, qualitative and phytochemical analysis, determination of alcoholic content, and evaluation of tablet parameters such as hardness, friability, and disintegration.
The programme also provided practical exposure to the determination of refractive index and optical rotation, enabling the scholars to gain a better understanding of analytical procedures used for the identification, evaluation, and quality assessment of pharmaceutical preparations.
The training served as a valuable bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enhancing the scholars’ technical skills and understanding of modern pharmaceutical and quality-control practices in Homoeopathic Pharmacy. The exposure is expected to contribute significantly to their academic development, research capabilities, and professional competence.
