On the occasion of World Homoeopathic Day, a scientific programme was organized by JSPS Government Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad.
Dr. V. Sravani, MD (Homoeopathy), Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College, delivered an insightful presentation on the role of homoeopathy in mental health within an integrative care model.
The session highlighted the significant treatment gap in India, largely influenced by stigma, limited access to mental health services, and a shortage of psychiatrists. An integrative approach was emphasized, combining conventional allopathic management during acute phases with individualized homoeopathic treatment for long-term stabilization and relapse prevention.
Clinical case discussions and institutional observations suggested a supportive role of homoeopathy, particularly in chronic and treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions. However, it was also noted that the current evidence base remains predominantly observational.
The programme underscored the importance of holistic and patient-centered approaches in addressing the growing mental health needs of society.
