As part of the ongoing Poshan Maah 2025 and Swasthya Naari Shashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, the Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the NSS Unit of JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, organized an awareness programme on 24th September 2025 for pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls.
Final-year BHMS students and NSS volunteers educated participants on complementary feeding recipes, breastfeeding techniques, immunization schedules, management of diarrhoea, and ORS therapy. Special focus was given to adolescent girls on menstrual hygiene and nutritional measures for the prevention of anaemia.
The attendees, alongside faculty, students, and the Anganwadi team, took the Poshan Maah pledge, committing to nutritious food, regular exercise, and wellness promotion in their communities. Anganwadi children were screened for anthropometric measures to assess nutritional status, and a health check-up camp was conducted for the beneficiaries. The programme concluded with the distribution of fruits.
The event was attended by Mrs. Gnaneshwari (Anganwadi Supervisor), Mrs. Jyothi and Mrs. Vinodha (Anganwadi Teachers), Dr. Poonam N. Sutar (Professor & HOD, Community Medicine), and Dr. I. Sai Manasa (Assistant Professor, OBGY). A total of 155 beneficiaries were reached through this initiative, which successfully disseminated vital information and motivated mothers to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
