Under the guidance of the Department of Paediatrics and Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, a Patient Orientation Programme was successfully conducted for pregnant and lactating women, along with their attenders on 2nd August 2025.
Paediatric PG students — Dr. Dharani, Dr. Aparna, Dr. Sharanya, Dr. Sushma, and Dr. Shivateja — delivered insightful sessions on:
Benefits of Breastfeeding for Mother & Infant
Different Positions for Breastfeeding
Common Myths vs Facts
Common Challenges Faced by New Mothers
Dr. M. Ramya Krishna addressed the gathering with her valuable insights on common problems encountered in the ward and how such orientation programs help overcome them.
An interactive Q\&A session followed, where Dr. Tamil Selvan, Dr. Bhavya Shikha, and Dr. Manasa clarified patient queries and thanked the attendees for their enthusiastic participation.
Dr. Manisha Thakur (Paediatrician) and Dr. Poojitha (Gynaecologist) graced the event as Guests of Honour.
Simultaneously, multiple orientation stations were set up by Paediatric PG scholars throughout the hospital, educating expectant mothers and their families on:
Importance of Breastfeeding
Galactogogues
Milk Composition
and much more!
The program was well-received and made a meaningful impact in promoting awareness, support, and education around breastfeeding.
