A Summery Report-General Medical Camp at Kundelkunta Village
On 27th September, 2019 a general medical camp was organized at Kundelkunta Village, Farooqnagar Mandal, Rangareddy District by Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad as part of legal awareness along with health awareness talks. The Department of Community medicine, JIMS HMC participated in this camp and provided treatment, awareness talks on rainy season diseases such as malaria, dengue. They also emphasized on the importance of Hand wash. The team also went to nearby Thanda for inspection of breeding spots and educated regarding prevention of mosquitoe larvae and adult stages.
An awareness talk was given by legal lawyers who came from Legal Aid Centre of Ranga Reddy District.
Total number of beneficiaries was 87. Few of the patients were referred to JIMS. For details please refer the analysis below.
People were very receptive and happy to comply. We found out that people did not know what a ‘dry day’ is. This place needs more of health education and training.
Visit to Sewage Treatment Plant – Field visit 2019
A study visit by students to Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) located at Amberpet on 3rd August 2019.
As per the curriculum a visit to STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) was organized for the benefit of the final year students.
Objective of the visit:
- To learn about handling of sewage storage, capacity and processes.
- To witness actual methods adopted by the plant at real time
Students were introduced to the plant’s senior scientist Mr Prakash Rao who took deep interest in explaining students about various aspects of water, sewage and treatment of sewage. He showed all the processes of treatment such as screening, grit removal, primary and secondary treatment and modern method adopted by plant as well.
Students enquired about various aspects of environmental impacts and fate of untreated sewage excreta.
Cancer screening and general health check up camp organized by JIMSHMC
Cancer screening and general health check up camp organized by JIMSHMC at Symbiosis International University, Hyderabad in collaboration with Vikas Tharangini on the 14th of June 2019 .
The cancer screening and general health check up camp was organized by department of Community Medicine, JIMS HMC in collaboration with Vikas Tharangini of JIVA as part of the SCOPE initiative by Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad.

A formal inauguration program was organized by Symbiosis. Dr Arvind Kothe, Academic Director was felicitated. All the participants from Vikas tharangini and staff from JIMS were also felicitated.
Total number of beneficiaries is 97; women who underwent colposcopy were 45 of which 2 were follow up from previous camps. All breast examinations were normal.
