  • Overview of the tour:  The primary objective of the visit was to gain a practical understanding of mental healthcare delivery, observe the functioning of various departments and learn about the institutional management of psychiatric patients.

The IV yr students reported at the Institute of Mental Health, Erragadda, Hyderabad on 1st August 2025 at 10.00 am along with the faculty members.  

On reaching the venue, students were introduced to Dr. Venkat Subbaiah – Clinical Psychologist working at IMH. He gave a brief introduction to the functioning of the hospital that included information of different wards – OPD, IPD, Rehabilitation and Remand prison. After the introductory session students were grouped in 3 batches & taken around to see the various wards. Dr. Subbaiah and PG scholars posted in the wards discussed the cases, treatment protocols and therapies implemented for the patients.

The visit focused on three key areas: the Rehabilitation Centre, the Remand Prison, and the ECT. The multidisciplinary team of medical staff and therapists demonstrated an effective mental health care with the environment that meticulously adapted to meet the specific needs and safety requirements of its patient population.

  • Overview of the tour:  The visit was to introduce the students to the various methods of pasteurization of milk, test conducted to evaluate the efficacy of pasteurization and to educate them about milk hygiene and prevention of milk borne diseases.

80 students visited the V K Dairy Essential Pvt Ltd (Absolute Milk Dairy) in 3 batches on 28th, 29th and 30th July 2025. The students along with the faculty reported at the venue at 10.00 am  

Firstly the students were introduced to the in-charge of the milk dairy. They were taken around the plant to see how milk is collected & stored in large containers and through different channels supplied to the other units where various milk products are prepared. Students were shown the curd, khoya, ice-cream, ghee processing and packaging units.

Further they were taken to the milk processing unit where the in-charge explained every step included in the process of pasteurization of milk with different methods like Holder method, HTST and UHT method. Thereafter the students were shown various test conducted for raw milk. The in-charge emphasized the need for maintenance of milk hygiene as to prevent milk borne diseases.

On 1st August 2025, the Department of Paediatrics, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, formally inaugurated the World Breastfeeding Week 2025 celebrations with the global theme:
“Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems.”

The event was inaugurated by Dr. N.C. Dhole (Principal) and Dr. J. Santosh Kumar (Vice-Principal) within the college premises. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Md. Irfan (HOD), along with Dr. Tamil Selvan, Dr. Bhavya Shikha, and Dr. M. Ramya Krishna, Paediatrics scholars actively conducted educational sessions through multiple interactive stations.

The stations highlighted: Breastfeeding Positions, Infant Hunger Cues, Burping Techniques, Breast Milk Composition, Galactagogues, Hazards of Artificial Feeding

These sessions were aimed at enhancing awareness among Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, Interns, and Non-teaching staff, emphasizing the importance of informed, supportive, and sustainable breastfeeding practices.

Theme: “ORS: A Simple Solution for a Healthier Future”

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital observed World ORS Day through a collaborative initiative by the Department of Paediatrics, Department of Community Medicine, and the NSS Unit.

Awareness Campaign in Schools
PG Scholars and NSS volunteers conducted educational sessions across three ZPHS schools – Peddashapur (240 students), Chegur (70 students), and Hayathabad (90 students) – focusing on:

✅ Preparation and use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS)
✅ Hands-on training in ORS mixing and handwashing techniques
✅ Awareness on monsoon-related illnesses and preventive strategies

The sessions were well-received by headmasters, teachers, and students, creating impactful community outreach.

The campaign was led by Dr. Tamil Selvan, Dr. M. Ramya Krishna (Paediatrics), Dr. Poonam N. Sutar, Dr. Viraj Kumar, and Dr. Vedira Divya (Community Medicine) with active participation from PG scholars and NSS volunteers.

The Department of Paediatrics, under the guidance of Dr. MD. Irfan (HOD), conducted an in-house awareness session for undergraduate students. PG scholars showcased informative posters and engaged in an interactive discussion.

The event was graced by Dr. Tamil Selvan, Dr. Bhavya Shikha, and Dr. M. Ramya Krishna.

Theme: Hepatitis: Let’s break it down!

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital – Department of Practice of Medicine and Department of Community Medicine conjointly conducted an informative session to raise awareness and promote education about hepatitis, its prevention and treatment for IV BHMS students.

Principal Dr. N. C. Dhole emphasized the importance of addressing hepatitis as a significant health issue. He discussed the risk factors and preventive strategies to be implemented to halt the spread of the disease. He motivated students to play an active role in community awareness programs, emphasizing their potential to educate and empower others.

A quiz session with multiple-choice questions was conducted for the students to test their knowledge and understanding of hepatitis.

The program’s interactive format and MCQ session helped engage participants actively and encouraged them to take ownership of promoting hepatitis awareness and prevention in the community.

On 24th July 2025, JIMS Homeopathic Medical College hosted an enriching seminar with Dr. Kavita Sawant from Mumbai, focusing on Predictive Homeopathy as developed by Dr. Praful Vijaykar.

Dr. Sawant presented chronic case studies, emphasizing the power of single remedy/single dose treatments, rooted in precise analysis. Key discussions included miasmatic evaluation, Hering’s Law, suppression theory, and prognosis based on nutrient levels.

Interns and postgraduates found the session highly insightful and motivating. Despite time limits, three detailed cases were discussed, sparking curiosity and deeper interest.

Dr. Sawant also visited our departments and praised the college’s clinical and academic excellence.

The Department of Yoga for Health Promotion, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, successfully conducted an Orientation Programme on “Yoga in the Healthcare System” date: 24/07/2025 aimed at deepening the understanding of yoga as a complementary and supportive therapy within modern healthcare practices.

The primary aim of the orientation was to highlight the integrative role of yoga in patient care, especially within the domain of homoeopathy. It emphasized the safe and effective application of yoga practices as an adjunct to conventional medical treatment, focusing on improving patient outcomes through a holistic approach.

Dr. Hepsiba, Faculty, Dept. of Yoga delivered a foundational talk on “What is Yoga?” and elaborated on its relevance in contemporary healthcare systems, touching upon evidence-based benefits of yoga in managing chronic illnesses, mental health, and preventive care.

Dr. Anushka Gavde, Guest Faculty, Dept. of Yoga provided an insightful presentation on “Yoga in Homoeopathy – A Supportive Approach”, focusing on how yogic practices can enhance the efficacy of homoeopathic treatment. She discussed practical ways to incorporate yoga into treatment plans while respecting individual patient needs.

Dr. Ramanaiah, Faculty, Dept. of Yoga addressed the theme “Yoga as an Integrated Approach to Health”, stressing the importance of unifying physical, mental, and emotional well-being. He emphasized yoga’s potential to bridge the gap between modern and traditional systems of medicine, promoting a truly patient-centered approach.

The session was attended by faculty members, and healthcare practitioners who actively participated in discussions and expressed keen interest in adopting yoga-based interventions in their future clinical practice.

This orientation programme marked a significant step towards fostering an integrated healthcare model, where yoga is recognized not just as a wellness tool but as a therapeutic modality that complements homoeopathy and other medical systems. On 12th July 2025, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital had the distinct privilege of hosting a scientific session led by one of the most respected and visionary figures in modern homoeopathy — Dr. Farokh J. Master, MD (Hom), PhD in Cancer Management.

A global luminary, Dr. Master is the Founder of the Homeopathic Health Centre, Mumbai, and has dedicated his life to the advancement of classical homoeopathy, particularly in the realm of oncology and palliative care. He has played a pivotal role in bridging homoeopathy with mainstream allopathic medicine, offering his services at prestigious institutions such as Bombay Hospital, KEM, Wadia Hospital, Ruby Hall Clinic, Sir H. N. Reliance Hospital, and Bai Jerbai Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Master shared deep insights on the fundamental principles of homoeopathy in the context of cancer treatment, emphasizing holistic approaches rooted in classical practice.

He presented real-life clinical case studies that demonstrated the successful integration of homoeopathy in palliative oncology, aiming to enhance quality of life in cancer patients.

The session also highlighted the growing relevance of integrative medicine in modern healthcare.
The event was attended by Postgraduate Scholars, Interns, and Faculty Members of the college, who actively engaged in the interactive discussions that followed.

Our Principal, Dr. N. C. Dhole, warmly welcomed Dr. Master and paid tribute to his monumental contributions to homoeopathy and integrative cancer care. He emphasized how Dr. Master’s work continues to inspire both practitioners and students across the globe.
