Postgraduate scholars from the Department of Homoeopathic Pharmacy, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, accompanied by Dr. Raghuramachandra (Professor, Dept. of Pharmacy), had the opportunity to visit the esteemed pharmaceutical company, Dr. Willmar Schwabe India Pvt. Ltd.
The visit commenced with an insightful introduction by Dr. Poorva, MD (Hom), who provided an overview of the company’s infrastructure, operational divisions, and adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). She elaborated on advanced technologies used in the facility, including air handling units, and shared valuable information regarding new drug development.
Dr. Snigdha offered a comprehensive explanation of the company’s other vital departments, including the warehouse, water treatment unit, and quality control laboratory. She detailed their roles and significance in ensuring product quality and production efficiency. The team was also guided through a beautifully maintained mini forest within the premises, which houses 69 species of medicinal plants.
The session was further enriched by Dr. Vallavan, MD (Hom), who addressed the students’ queries related to the preparation of mother tinctures, pharmacopoeial standards, and drug stability. He also shared encouraging insights on career development, instilling confidence and motivation among the young scholars.
The visit proved to be an enlightening and professionally rewarding experience for all participants.
