Drug Control and Regulatory Strengthening Day at JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital

As per the guidelines issued by Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) and the Health, Medical and Family Welfare (HM & FW) Department, Government of Telangana, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital observed Drug Control and Regulatory Strengthening Day under the initiative Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika on 11th April 2026.

The event was organized around the themes “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” and “Break the Chain of Antimicrobial Resistance: Protect our Medicine, Protect our Future.”

The programme commenced with an Essay Writing Competition, wherein students actively participated and presented insightful perspectives aligned with the themes. A total of 27 entries were received, making the evaluation process both rigorous and highly competitive. The winners of the competition were Ms. G. Gayathri (Third Year) and Ms. P. Sandhya (Final Year).

This was followed by an enlightening and thought-provoking address by the Principal, Dr. Nimai Chandra Dhole, on the critical issue of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and the importance of the judicious use of medicines. He emphasized the urgent need to tackle the rising burden of drug-resistant infections and highlighted the role of effective infection control measures in preventing the spread of diseases.

Subsequently, Elocution and Painting Competitions were conducted. Students delivered impactful speeches, raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance. The painting competition showcased creative expressions emphasizing the importance of a drug-free life and safeguarding the efficacy of medicines. The winners were Ms. CVS Kalyani (Final Year) in elocution, and Ms. Deepika and Mr. Sai Nithin (Third Year) in painting.

The programme further included a Quiz Competition, featuring four teams, each comprising four participants. The quiz tested students’ knowledge on key areas such as drug abuse, antimicrobial resistance, pharmacovigilance, and adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The competition was intellectually stimulating and encouraged active engagement among participants. The winners were Ms. P. Sandhya and Ms. B. Shruti (Final Year), along with Ms. Nishath Anjum and Ms. Deepika (Third Year).

The event concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, where winners were awarded clinical books as a token of appreciation. The programme successfully instilled a renewed sense of awareness, responsibility, and inspiration among students toward promoting rational drug use and combating antimicrobial resistance.
