As part of the Breastfeeding Week 2025 celebrations, the Departments of Paediatrics and OBGY at JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College organized a Galactagogue Food-Making Competition, showcasing the vital role of nutrition in supporting lactating mothers. Both postgraduate and undergraduate students actively participated, presenting a wide array of traditional and innovative foods known to promote milk production, thereby emphasizing the significance of dietary support in breastfeeding.
We were honored by the presence of distinguished guests – Dr. Navin (Director, JIMS Health Care), Dr. N.C. Dhole (Principal), Dr. Pravas Pas (Medical Superintendent), Dr. Santosh Kumar (Vice-Principal), and Dr. Vishal Deshpande (PG Coordinator) – whose encouragement and inspiring words added immense value to the event.
A Role Play Competition was also conducted to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding. Through engaging and thought-provoking performances, students creatively conveyed key health messages, advocating for breastfeeding as essential to the well-being of both mothers and infants.
The competitions were judged by an esteemed panel comprising Dr. Anjali Baber, Dr. Chandraja, Dr. Truptilaxmi, Dr. Kalpavali, Dr. Kalyani, and Dr. Annapurna. Their expertise and objective evaluations greatly contributed to the success of the events.
The week-long celebration concluded with a prize and certificate distribution ceremony recognizing the efforts and talents of all the participants. Additionally, postgraduate scholars and faculty from the Department of Paediatrics were felicitated with certificates for successfully completing the Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) course, reflecting their dedication to advancing maternal and child healthcare.
This final day marked a meaningful culmination to a week filled with learning, awareness, and community engagement in support of breastfeeding practices.
