JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, On the occasion of PCOS Awareness Month 2025, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine & Department of Yoga for health promotion organized a Seminar on Yoga for PCOS as the Day-1 event.
The session began with a warm welcome and introduction by Dr. Roja, Assistant Professor, OBGY, who emphasized the importance of celebrating PCOS Awareness Month. Dr. G. Hepsiba, Assistant Professor, Yoga, delivered an insightful lecture on the benefits of Yoga and the role of a Yogic diet in managing PCOS. Students Priyanka Patil and Shinjini (3rd year BHMS) demonstrated Surya Namaskaras and other asanas beneficial for PCOS.
Dr. Shivani Wadhwa, Professor & HOD, OBGY, engaged students in an interactive discussion on dietary modifications. Faculty members including Dr. Viraj (Associate Professor) and Dr. Phaneesh (Assistant Professor) from Community Medicine, and Dr. Sudeepti Sharma (Assistant Professor, FMT), actively participated in the session. The audience also joined in a group practice of breathing exercises and meditation, adding a practical dimension to the seminar.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Maanasa Inavolu, Assistant Professor, OBGY, highlighting the collective efforts of all departments in promoting holistic approaches to PCOS management. This initiative marked an important step towards raising awareness and integrating Yoga as a supportive practice in the management of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
