Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Training Workshop at JIMS

JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital (JIMS HMC) organized a Workshop on the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) on 04 December 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The workshop was conducted by the Department of Paediatrics with the objective of strengthening interns’ understanding and skills in evidence-based neonatal resuscitation.

The session featured expert resource persons, Dr. Manisha Thakur and Dr. V. Siddhartha, Paediatricians, and saw active participation from interns, postgraduate scholars, the Medical Officer of the Paediatrics Department, and faculty members from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The workshop was moderated by Dr. Mohammed Irfan, Dr. Tamil Selvan, and Dr. Bhavya Shikha.

The program commenced with an introductory briefing by PGs Dr. Aparna and Dr. Dharani, who outlined the objectives of NRP and emphasized its vital role in reducing neonatal morbidity through prompt and appropriate interventions in the delivery room.

This was followed by an informative didactic session by Dr. Manisha Thakur, who highlighted the significance of the “Golden Minute,” explained the essential steps of neonatal resuscitation, and presented the latest updates from the NRP 2025 guidelines.

The workshop’s key highlight was the hands-on skill training conducted at various stations arranged by the PGs. These included Positive Pressure Ventilation, endotracheal intubation, umbilical vein cannulation, and neonatal CPR, all supervised by Dr. V. Siddhartha, who offered practical demonstrations and clarified procedural techniques for the interns.

To assess knowledge enhancement, pre-test and post-test evaluations were conducted for both interns and PGs, reinforcing key concepts related to neonatal resuscitation.

The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Mohammed Irfan, who underscored the importance of continuous NRP training and encouraged interns to apply the skills acquired during real-life clinical scenarios to ensure optimal outcomes for newborns.
