As part of its ongoing outreach initiative, JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital organized a Health Awareness and General Screening Programme at the adopted outreach villages Narasappaguda, Gudur, Papireddyguda, Sangyam, and Kothur with a special focus on the migrant community. The programme aimed at educating the community about seasonal and monsoon-related diseases while also conducting preventive health screening to identify common ailments at an early stage.
The session began with Dr. Viraj Kumar addressing the gathering, where he emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups and explained the free health services provided weekly by JIMS Outreach. He highlighted the risks of monsoon-related illnesses such as mosquito-borne infections, respiratory problems, and skin diseases, while also outlining the role of Homoeopathy in effective prevention and treatment of infectious and nutritional disorders.
To ensure practical learning, Intern Pooja demonstrated proper handwashing techniques along with cough and sneezing etiquettes, reinforcing the importance of hygiene in disease prevention. The outreach team consisting of Dr. Vishnubandhavi,Dr. Manasvi, Dr. Sushma, Intern Pooja, Intern Shivani, and MSW Mr. Sanyasi Naidu actively engaged with the community, offering consultations, guidance on preventive practices, and screening for common seasonal ailments.
The programme particularly stressed Do’s and Don’ts during monsoon, created awareness about prevalent diseases such as dengue, cold, coryza, fever, and skin infections, and educated the community on preventive measures like mosquito control, safe drinking water, proper nutrition, and timely medical consultation.
With enthusiastic participation from students and community members, the event not only strengthened awareness but also reinforced JIMS Outreach’s mission of promoting preventive healthcare, early screening, and holistic treatment for healthier communities.
