JIMS Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital observed Day 2 of MANODARPAN – Mental Health Awareness Week with a Community Awareness Programme at Chegoor Village, conducted by the Departments of Psychiatry and Community Medicine.
The programme created awareness among villagers and students of Zilla Parishad High School (6th–10th) on stress management, emotional wellbeing, exam pressure, screen addiction, and the importance of seeking timely help, led by PG scholars Dr. Jyoti Naik and Dr. Haseena. Principal Mr. Raja Reddy motivated the students with encouraging words, while Dr. Shreenath Rao emphasized the objectives and significance of mental health awareness. Community leaders including MPP Shiva Shankar Goud, Mrs. Veena (Village Secretary), Mr. Virender (Ex-Sarpanch), the Headmaster and faculty extended their support. A role play by UG students added impactful learning and motivation.
In the afternoon, the Department of Psychiatry organized an enriching Art Therapy Workshop titled “Healing through Art: Exploring Emotions with Creativity”, facilitated by experienced art therapists Mrs. Sudha Ramani and Mrs. Shilpa Shukla for 50 postgraduate students.
Activities such as crayon drawing, personality sketching, wet painting, Past-Present-Future reflective circles, Self-Certificate of Appreciation, and Gratitude Mandala Art helped participants explore emotions, self-awareness, and creativity. The workshop was highly appreciated for its experiential depth and highlighted the therapeutic role of art in holistic mental wellbeing.
