On September 10, 2026, our institution observed World Suicide Prevention Day by hosting a comprehensive, two-part educational event designed to “Change the Narrative on Suicide.” The program successfully engaged patients, attenders,medical faculty, postgraduate students, and college attendees across a morning session on the hospital grounds and an afternoon session at the college.Morning Session: Hospital Ground (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM)The morning session focused on clinical insights, creative illustration of the theme, and personal reflections.
Opening Remarks: Dr. Dinesh initiated the event with an introductory speech highlighting the critical importance of open dialogue surrounding mental health.
Theme Representation: The Postgraduate students of Psychiatry delivered an impactful roleplay titled “Just Ask,” which visually demonstrated how simple, direct conversations can break the stigma and save lives.
Personal Insights: Dr. YRA shared a powerful segment on “Lived experiences,” providing the audience with a profound, real-world perspective on mental health resilience.
Afternoon Session: College Campus (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)The afternoon session transitioned into an academic and clinical workshop focused on education, risk mitigation, and case management.
Welcome Address: The session commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Divyanathan, followed by an address from the Principal, Dr. NC Dhole.
Debunking Misconceptions: Dr. Sushrutha led an interactive “Myths and Facts” session, dismantling common societal misconceptions about suicide.
Awareness & Clinical Training: Dr. Sairam delivered a core lecture on “Suicide Awareness,” which was seamlessly followed by a presentation on “Risk Assessment” by Dr. Ramya Sree, equipping attendees with vital evaluation strategies.
Practical Application: Dr. Sravani facilitated a “Case-Based Discussion,” offering practical insights into managing crisis situations.
Theme Representation: The Psychiatry PGs performed the “Just Ask” roleplay to reinforce the day’s central message to the college audience.
Special Guest Session: Directly following the roleplay, Dr. Samar Chatterjee delivered a moving presentation on “Lived Experiences,” offering invaluable personal and professional insights into coping and recovery.
Conclusion: The event concluded at 4:45 PM with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Vanaja Kumari, expressing gratitude to all speakers, organizers, and participants.
